XFERDATA

Datasets that have never been sold to anyone

We take operational data out of companies that have never commercialized it, prepare it to a common standard, and auction it. A controlled number each quarter, not a catalog of four thousand listings.

Raw operational data, not an insights or analytics product.

The problem we are solving for you

Most datasets are not worth the weeks it takes to evaluate them

In a catalog of thousands of datasets, every listing is written by the seller, and every one of them describes itself as comprehensive, high quality and unique. There is no way to compare two of them without evaluating both. So buyers stop reading catalogs and buy from people they already know, which is a poor way to find something you have not seen before.

Our answer is to spend the diligence effort before you do. A dataset does not reach you until it can survive the questions you were going to ask anyway.

The gate

No auction opens without all of this in place

If it is on the platform, it has already cleared the following. This is why we run few auctions rather than many.

Getting to a bid

Four months to back-test before you commit to anything

01

Register, once

Free. A Master Platform Agreement covers the platform and trial data across every future auction and your affiliates. Doing it now means you are not negotiating master terms against an auction clock later.

02

Diligence the dataset

A distinct DDQ per auction, with a messaging system that keeps an audit trail and syncs to email. Xferdata or the owning company answers.

03

Trial, then bid

The auction runs four months, so you can back-test against your own outcomes before bidding rather than taking the seller's word for the signal.

How the auction works

A starting price set by the valuation, not by the seller

Starting prices come from the valuation, not from the owner's hopes, and they are set conservatively. Bidding is like for like on a subscription order form. Several buyers work to one deadline, so a dataset reaches a sensible total without any single buyer overpaying.

Who sets the starting prices

Valuations are calibrated by people who have priced data in your sector

Model output is reviewed by a human with domain experience for the relevant buyer type. Those valuations become the auction's starting price.

Questions buyers ask

The things worth knowing before you register

Where do the datasets come from?

Direct from companies and through partners, with sponsorship at C-suite level. Owners appoint Xferdata as sole distribution partner and confirm the data has not been commercialized to your buyer group before.

What about personal data?

Nothing reaches an auction until personal data has been removed or the right to share it has been verified by our compliance team. If a dataset cannot be made clean, it does not go to auction.

Can I find out who the data owner is?

No. Owners want anonymity, which is what makes them willing to monetize at all, and it is normal in corporate licensing. Xferdata is the vendor of record, so you contract with one counterparty rather than with a company that has never been a data vendor.

What is the platform agreement?

One master agreement covering every auction, signed once. It sets the terms for IP, confidentiality and compliance on both sides: owners keep ownership and you license, and your backtesting and bidding strategy stay confidential.

Can I wait for an auction I like before doing platform compliance?

You can, and it usually costs you the auction. Master terms take weeks to negotiate and auctions run to a timeline. The agreement is done once and covers everything after it.

Will competitive bidding push the price somewhere unrealistic?

Starting prices are set conservatively from an independent valuation. The design gets the owner to a reasonable total across several buyers rather than an extreme price from one.

How long has Xferdata been operating?

Xferdata Inc. is US incorporated and has been running auctions since January 2025.
